The FDA will soon be unveiling their plan for regulating digital healthcare innovations. The role of the FDA is to ensure “safe and effective innovation” for the advancement of drug treatments. Currently, the consumer world is booming with innovation that can lead to great improvements on the health of individuals but the healthcare industry has not yet been able to adopt all there is to offer.
In the FDA Voice blog post, Fostering Medical Innovation: A Plan for Digital Health Devices, Dr. Scott Gottlieb states:
“ambiguity regarding how FDA will approach a new technology can lead innovators to invest their time and resources in other ventures.”
For this reason and many more, it’s crucial that regulations catch up to technological advances.
